Globalisation strengthens the connection between companies from all over the world. It is time people understand the importance of international business.
International business degrees are shaped to give students practical knowledge about different business management practices from all over the world. In addition, candidates are prepared for business careers abroad or in organisations that are engaged in business on a global scale.
Moreover, international business is vital in order to understand different cultures and mindsets and ultimately become a global citizen.
A degree in International Business prepares you for a job in a culturally diverse business environment, which means that any graduate can benefit from opportunities in any country.
The advantage of an International Business course is that you are highly employable for most industries since the majority of skills acquired are transferable.
Candidates studying international business will also gain information and insight about the difficulties of starting and growing businesses from different countries, something which is of utmost importance for anyone who wants to make their business thrive.
International Business is usually a three-year commitment, depending on each university. Lately, there are institutions which offer the possibility of having a ‘sandwich course’, which basically enables the candidates to work abroad for one year in the industry, as part of their studies.
The purpose of the ‘sandwich course’ is to encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and work in a different culture and environment. In this way, they will understand other mentalities, as well as gain relevant working experience in the field.
El Bosque university is better known for its medical programs, having one of the most important clinics in the city where medical and nursing students can practice and learn a lot from the specialists.
But for other careers the university is doing things great too. They have really good opportunities for personal and professional development, such as volunteering for helping people around the country, where students can either participate in activities, travel to other cities and help people directly, or simply participate by donating or helping during the recollection stages. Professionally speaking, there are also many opportunities, the university has good strong relationships with big national and international companies for students to do their internship. Every semester offers opportunities to go abroad to other universities and inside the campus are many spaces for students to socialize, practice sports or taking rests (there are hammocks in the wellness center). Also in the wellness center you can find board games, xbox, play stations and other ways to spend your free time by yourself or with friends.
Overall is a nice place, with nice workers from teachers to general services and you will notice they are always thinking in the students wellness, development and success.
I really liked my program, it’s one of the best things that happened to me, the university is amazing including the people and the facilities. About the things that I didn’t like were that as you know Colombia is not the most secure place in the world so outside the university was kind of dangerous because of the thieves. Something that I want to highlight is that my university helped me do an exchange to Canada, (Lakehead University)
