I really enjoyed my time at York University studying Liberal Arts. The professors were friendly and actually cared about what you were learning, and there was always something interesting happening on campus. I felt like I could explore different subjects and really grow, both academically and personally. Overall, it was a great experience!
View moreYork University has amazing professors with years of experience. Some courses can be a bit repetitive and dry, but it is not difficult to excel (at least in my BA program). There’s always something going on at campus, so it is not hard to include yourself in extracurriculars. The only thing I disliked at York was the politics of the university. It is pretty difficult to express your opinion if you differ from the masses without being immediately ridiculed.
View moreYork is a rollercoaster but it has been a good journey so far. Some classes are hectic, others are awesome. Honestly, I expected less of York university but got to see unexpected side of York. I lowkey like York
View moreYork University is a distinguished institution that possesses various attributes that contribute to its excellence, including its high academic standards, stunning campus, modern facilities, and lively student community. The professors, who are highly competent and dedicated to their respective fields, prioritize the welfare and intellectual growth of their students. York University is a university that I wholeheartedly admire and would strongly recommend to anyone.
View moreYork as the university itself is a great diverse and fun campus. Everything is on campus or around campus. I love how accessible it was to everything. I was in Kin and I loved the programme. Very popular and diverse in terms of courses we can take. The negative was courses was never available.
View moreI like my university based on the diversity of the people I like that we can all share our experience because we have help around us all the time. Things I do not like is how bad the security life is
View moreA lot of the new professors are a little discouraging about how life would be like with this program. Classes are okay. The professors however are all very knowledgeable, questionable choices for TAs though. The best prof in the BSW program is Chris Chapman!
View moreThe program was an okay program, the classes were informative about different theories and how we would use them today. The head of the department is good, but he wanders off a lot talking about irrelevant things. The professors are very nice and helpful with helping you understand the material.
Overall I do not think it’s the best program to major in if you’re looking to get a job quickly after graduating.
York University as a whole is a very good school, I love that no matter what you do or who you are there is a community/school associations for you and they are very welcoming.
Aside from a strike for half a year and a pandemic for another my experience at york was a good one. I had some great professors and met some nice people. The school needs some more areas to sit and study. They were always full
View moreI transitioned into York as a transfer student from a different university and I had a great time studying there. I started off as a psychology major but didn’t do very well in my first year. Thankfully, there were many resources at York that allowed me to petition eligible grades off my transcript and seamlessly transitioned into another major that I enjoyed and excelled in. Secondly, as a student with a disability, the professors and the university provided me with many accommodations such as notetaking services, extra time for exams and extension requests that allowed me to participate equitably in the university experience.
There are so many restaurants and cafes on campus to choose from. When it comes to food, the options are endless! What I really like about them is that many cafes like Aroma, Tim Hortons and Starbucks all have lots of seating where you can sip on your coffee or enjoy a small snack while studying.
I do have to note that one of the ‘cons’ about York University is that faculty for contract professors are very likely to strike every three years. It is definitely a deciding factor when it comes to selecting an university but I have fortunately not experienced this during my time at York.
The education I have received has led me to pursue my Masters’s degree. The Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Hall Law School are among the top programs in Canada. Given my very positive experience here, I definitely recommend this school.
