This might be obvious but UofT definitely isn’t meant to be a relaxed school with fun parties and game nights. It’s hard to get in and harder to get out, and most of the people you meet are driven, career oriented, and striving to be their best. I know me and most of my friends have been through some tough nights, and exam seasons are something else. If you’re looking for that movie-like uni experience, UofT is not for you. But if you’re here to be a better version of yourself in the end, to be challenged and tested by some of the best professors out there, and to be surrounded by some really motivated and hard working people, you’ll really love it here. (And watch out for the geese, they’re kinda mean)

Its faculty consists of accomplished professionals and pioneers in their fields. As a globally respected research university—best known for groundbreaking discoveries like the discovery of insulin—UofT holds a strong reputation for academic excellence. I chose to go to UofT for its academic environment and legacy of innovation. This university has academically challenged me multiple times. The workload is manageable despite people saying otherwise. Success here requires prioritizing your academics and mental health and building sustaining relationships with your professors. Compared to other universities, UofT’s grading scheme is more demanding; although the curriculum may be similar elsewhere, the expectations for professionalism, critical thinking, and intellectual engagement are considerably higher.
