My favourite part of being a TMU student, and notably TRSM, are the opportunities it provides. When you take advantage of TMU’s student groups, events, and academic opportunities, there is so much to offer. Aside from conventional academic classes, I’ve had the chance to join student groups, which has not only allowed me to form great connections and memories, but has also allowed me to gain professional experience that will serve me well after graduation. TRSM Bootcamps are a valuable opportunity that TRSM provides that I appreciated as they allowed me to gain different certificates that I can add to my LinkedIn profile or resume, for example. My favourite part of TMU is that there are always unlimited opportunities available. Honourable mentions include: SLC.
Although I would argue that my postsecondary years have been the busiest of my student career thus far, I would also argue that this time has been the most rewarding for me as a student. Because of my time at TMU, I felt I was able to greatly improve both professionally and personally by gaining real working experiences. I would definitely attribute this to the fact that I took the initiative to engage in extracurricular activities such as student societies, school events, and internship and volunteer opportunities. In my first year, I was only taking classes and doing nothing else, and I felt like I was stagnating. However, after being more involved on campus, I was able to build new connections and experience, make the Dean’s list, obtain internships, and most importantly, gain knowledge and skills that you can’t learn from a textbook. As a fourth-year student, I can confidently state that I will be graduating and satisfied with my school experience at TMU.
