A business cannot survive if its products are not marketed in the proper way. Luckily for all the businesses out there, the number of candidates wanting to pursue a marketing career is growing tremendously.
The aim of this degree is to help students anticipate, manage, and satisfy customers’ needs and wants. By doing so, they will be able to effectively communicate the benefits of any business product to the targeted market.
Due to the fact that marketing is a complex industry, which tackles many areas ranging from market research to advertising and promotion, this degree focuses on all parts of the process before concentrating on a particular area of study.
Good news for marketing graduates! If you did not know yet, marketing is an essential aspect of all types of businesses, from all sectors of activity. Thus, all of them rely on marketers to promote and sell their products. A high market demand comes with many job opportunities available.
According to Labor Department Findings, graduates with a marketing degree can earn 98% more per hour than the ones working in the industry without having a specialised degree.
Furthermore, students are equipped with transferable skills, such as excellent communication abilities, strategic thinking, planning, data analysis and so on, that can be used in other industries too.
Marketing degrees can be studied either as Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). The major difference lies in the presence of more scientific and technological aspects, which are commonly seen in a BSc rather than a BA.
Like most degrees, marketing courses last between three and four years, depending on the university. However, there are institutions which give students the possibility to do a two-year associate’s degree – also called a ‘foundation’ degree.
Even if graduating from both degrees qualifies candidates to work in this industry, a Bachelor degree has higher chances to lead you to well-paid jobs.
Humber Polytechnic has provided me with an enriching and dynamic educational experience. The Bachelor of Public Relations program offers a well-rounded curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on industry experience, preparing students for real-world communication challenges.

The school emphasizes experiential learning, offering opportunities such as internships, case studies, and networking events that help bridge the gap between academia and the professional world.

With access to career services, mentorship programs, and industry partnerships, students gain practical skills that give them a competitive edge in the job market. The diverse and inclusive campus culture fosters collaboration and creativity, making it an excellent place to learn and grow.
Overall, Humber Polytechnic is a fantastic choice for students seeking a hands-on, career-focused education in public relations and beyond.
View moreI am currently a fourth year student within the Creative Advertising Bachelors program at Humber College – Lakeshore campus. I have found that I have learned quite a lot in this program. There are many opportunities to explore different pathways within advertising and even applications of the skills learned within the program outside of the advertising realm. The professors here are quite accommodating and helpful. The program is challenging, but that’s necessary in order to prepare you for the advertising world. The only thing I would recommend for improvement is that there are some courses that should be added which would help significantly with some bigger learning curves, such as Video Editing and Web Design. These courses would help a lot, since a lot of advertising is surrounded by these two concepts. We learned very minimal about these subjects and it would be helpful for future BOCAs to learn these important and widely applicable skills. Overall, if you’re considering applying for BOCA, I’d say do it!
View moreI am currently enrolled in the Advertising and Marketing Communications program. The courses at Humber College are structured and hands-on. We work in teams, face conflicts, and grow through these experiences. The faculty members come from diverse backgrounds, careers, and experiences, providing students with a strong foundation. The recently constructed buildings are in excellent condition, and there is plenty of space for students to study comfortably.
View moreHumber College Lakeshore Campus offers a relatively large campus that is close to nature. I like that Humber gets professors with industry experience because they share the latest industry trends. However, not all professor have effective teaching style. Some classes are a hit or miss when it comes to professors.
View moreI’m currently in my third year at Humber College, and after being enrolled in several programs here, I’m convinced that it’s one of the best places I’ve studied. The sense of community is strong, and the support available to students is great, really making it feel like a nurturing environment for both personal and academic growth.
The support from staff and faculty is another major highlight for me. It’s clear they truly care about our success, always ready to lend a hand or offer advice when needed. This supportive atmosphere makes it easier to tackle challenges and fosters a real sense of belonging within the campus community.
Of course, it’s not all perfect—while many professors are passionate and inspiring, occasionally, you might encounter one who doesn’t quite meet the mark. But, these experiences are few and far between and are more than made up for by the professors who go above and beyond. Their passion is evident, and it makes learning exciting and engaging.
I recommend Humber College to anyone looking for a comprehensive educational experience in a supportive and dynamic environment.
View moreHumber College provides a textbook college experience and more, which is of big help to students balancing work, life, and school all at the same time. What stands out to me is all the help they keep within students’ reach — from free soup lunches in the Winter Time, to year’s worth of mental health services through tie-ins with popular apps. They don’t necessarily spoil you; they just make sure you have the tools you need to succeed in your field as much as possible.
When it comes to learning, Humber College has professors from different backgrounds, offering a breadth of knowledge people in the fields of Business, Arts, Biological Sciences, and more can appreciate. Humber is a great breeding ground for practical learning too, with labs scattered around the school.
View moreHumber College’s Advertising Media Management Ontario graduate certificate program (Program Code: 20881) offers a comprehensive and immersive experience for aspiring media professionals. As someone enrolled in the program between Sept 2023 and Aug 2024, I’ve found it to be an invaluable journey, equipping students with the necessary skills to excel in the dynamic world of media management.
The program’s structure over three semesters provides an extensive understanding of the advertising landscape, emphasizing both traditional and emerging media platforms. Through courses like ‘Introduction to Advertising: Media Management’ and ‘Media Strategies and Planning,’ the curriculum beautifully combines theoretical concepts with practical applications, fostering skills essential for success in the industry.
What makes this program stand out is its approach to fostering a holistic understanding of media dynamics. Modules such as ‘Media Measurement and Research’ and ‘Digital e-Marketing Sales’ delve deep into analytical and technological aspects, preparing students to tackle real-world challenges.
The course delivery modes are diversified, offering in-person, online asynchronous, online synchronous, and hybrid options. This diversity allows students to choose their preferred learning method, ensuring flexibility and adaptability to different learning styles and schedules.
One of the most appealing aspects is the hands-on experience provided through the ‘Field Experience – Advertising Media Management’ in the final semester. This opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios adds tremendous value and practical insight.
While the program’s content and faculty expertise are commendable, there’s room for improvement in further integrating industry-specific software and databases into the coursework.
Overall, Humber’s Advertising Media Management program provides a solid foundation for individuals seeking careers in media and advertising. It’s an immersive, well-structured program that nurtures critical thinking, strategic planning, and digital expertise, setting students on a path to succeed in this ever-evolving industry.
View moreI’ve been studying at Humber College for the past 5 years. I started out in a two year Diploma program then transferred into the 4 year Bachelors Degree version of my first program. I transition was very smooth and I got a ton of help from my program coordinators in both programs and help from the school. The education has been super hands on. I have gotten so much real life experience within my field of study, not just theory practice. That’s what makes Humber so great, regardless of field of study you will get in demand training and experience in your field. Overall, I would say I’m very pleased with my time at Humber and am glad to soon call myself a Humber graduate.

View moreI am currently studying Marketing Management at Humber College, and I am in my second semester. Since Marketing is a change in career for me, I wanted a college which can build my foundations strongly. Humber is just that.
I like the location of my campus (IGS), as well as the advance classrooms.
One thing I would say I dislike is how the timetable is spread out, not leaving much time to do part-time job.
Overall, a great and reputed college.
