The University of Ottawa (uOttawa) deserves more recognition. It is easy to find a balance between your academic and social life as long as you put in the effort. The courses are not overwhelming and it was relatively easy to integrate into university life here. The campus is tricky to navigate at first because the buildings are all connected but you get the hang of it eventually. I enjoy my program a lot and besides the co op program, there are lots of other opportunities for students to meet professionals in their field and volunteer.
View moreuOttawa campus offers a multitude of student resources and buildings with all types of study environments. The professors are good overall with accessible and welcoming office hours. Could use better food options on campus.
View moreI’m a 1st-year student in biopharma and I’ll say if any of you guys LOVES math and science it’s the right program.
View moreThe program is one of the best biomedical sciences programs in the country. It offers a variety of courses and teaches many different topics to build a proper foundation in all the STEM courses. However, the delivery of the course has been difficult being online. This course has multiple lab components and it has been difficult to excel in an online setting. There are not as many resources.
View moreThis program combines chemistry and biology which are omnipresent in our world. It gives students a good base in multiple domains including biochemistry, molecular sciences, and pharmacology. It also adds new concepts in biopharmaceutical science which is a relatively new growing field, especially in the last years. Teachers also adapt their material according to new technologies and the emergence of new conditions and diseases around the world.
View moreWhen enrolling to school I started in biomedical science rather than biology and grew to realize that it was not for me. After taking the general requirement biology and learning about animals I really grew fond of it. Now I’ve changed my program to Biology and I do like it to an extent. There will always be teachers that don’t actively help their students but overall the Biology department is very good at providing helpful resources. I can’t speak for every other department but the school has its own problems and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the school to everyone. It’s very dependent on the program of study. Student life is very limited as most of my classes are still virtual but there are good areas to study and the campus is very wide and within a distance of shopping centres that have many restaurants and cafes. There are services provided when it comes to mental health and there are many people who can help in guiding your studies and future plans postgraduate. Would I have enrolled in this university after experiencing two years of studies, no I don’t think I would? I feel like I could have learned more had I gone to a different school, but I say this as I am still taking my courses online so my opinion could change in the next year. Overall the University of Ottawa is a good school to earn a degree but it may just be limited to that alone.
