Despite being accepted to multiple universities in 2016, Trent University was one of my top selections. From an outstanding teacher education program, to a tight-knit community, and previous high scores of student satisfaction, I knew it was the right place for me.
Its main draw in my opinion was the smaller class sizes that made it easy to get to know everyone, students and faculty alike, and develop personal connections. I felt that professors simply knowing my name and interacting with me was a huge bonus compared to class sizes filled with 500-1000 students.
Throughout my four years in undergrad, I made the most of attending the satellite campus in Oshawa, Ontario – where our campus was only 1 building (at the time). During this time, I joined the Academic Mentoring Program – where I was hand selected by the Career Advisor – to become an Academic Mentor. This entailed directly influencing/impacting the lives of university students by helping them academically, personally, and socially become accustomed to postgraduate life. I take pride in knowing that I enriched campus life and make those around me feel happy with their decision to choose Trent as well.
