    Overpriced and Unfinished Programs

So I actually have two diplomas from Sheridan. I applied and was accepted to three, two of which I graduated from successfully and the third I dropped out of. So I have a lot of experience with the college to write a review from the perspective of the arts and social sciences. I successfully graduated with a 1 year art fundamentals course and dropped out of a bachelors of illustration. I also have a three year diploma in social service work from the college so I absolutely love to learn but unfortunately I would not recommend this college to anybody. When you apply to an art program, you have no leeway for art supply finances. Those costs come out of your own pocket on top of the fees you pay for the course itself and art supplies can get extremely expensive. Additionally, art is in itself, subjective to the viewer. Although a professor can teach principles of art skills such as color theory, figure drawing or shape principles, much of the other criticism is dependent on who you ask which for a lot of students including myself, killed our confidence. When I transitioned into the SSW diploma, I was fairly disappointed from several avenues. For a program that suppose to teach you how to not judge and to listen to others empathetically, I was met with very narrowminded and aggressive classmates. If you defined a word wrong, you were labelled as some sort of phobic. There was no room for incorrect answers there without being ridiculed by classmates. Additionally, it is a 3 year program when most jobs require a bachelors degree at minimum. The SSW course at best can get you positions in peer support work, path you into PSW work or have you do anything that isn’t the name of the course since its a 3 year diploma and not a 4 year degree. Biggest waste of my finances ever. The only reason I would recommend Sheridan to anybody is for travel accommodation sake, if they plan to live on campus, I would honesty say run for the hills to a better college/university.
