The program has overall been great. All the mandatory classes weren’t always ones that I thought catered to my major, they helped in the end broaden my overall knowledge that may come into use in the future. Overall, its a very good program
View moreProfessors are caring and MacEwan care about their students. Also, there are lots of programs to choose. Although the pandemic started MacEwan provided hybrid courses for students to choose whether online or in person.
View moreI am a biology major and chemistry minor Grant Macewan University. Overall the program it’s only worth it if you’re trying to pursue grad school. One thing that’s good is that Macewan matches a person’s score with a letter grade that determines GPA making it non-competitive. Courses are hard to enrol into due to their being offered in certain semesters. My advice is to swap over to U of A after completion of 100 and 200 level courses because not many 300 and 400 level courses are offered at MacEwan. Career prospects are also rare and hard to get into a related field regarding bachelor of science since most jobs require prior experience.
View moreThis is a solid school. I like how it is located in downtown Edmonton, close to many shops and restaurants. The classes themselves are pretty good, small classes and work load is always manageable. The professors seem to be hit or miss, I’ve had mostly good ones so far. Supports are there if you need them, and there are a good amount of clubs to join that work in and out of school hours to occupy yourself. It is a fairly international school, but it could improve the bigger it gets (new undergraduate degrees are added every year). I would recommend this school to those who want higher-end education in a busy city, but less expensive than other schools here.
View moreMacEwan University is a great place to start your academic career because of the wide variety of educational paths. Even if you are unsure about what you want to pursue in life, worry not! Many administrative members are happy to help you start your learning path. Life as a university student is full of changes and unpredictable obstacles; thankfully, MacEwan offers an abundance of help, whether therapy from a therapist or guidance from an academic advisor. I, as a student, have changed my educational path a few times, and I was able to do so with ease. Now I genuinely love what I am learning, and I feel that I am being trained on how to deal with issues in the workforce. Education is critical to me, and I will never stop learning. I feel that MacEwen University offers many different resources to ensure that their students never stop learning and have the knowledge they need to excel in their careers.
View moreI completed MacEwan University’s Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Anthropology, between the years 2016 and 2021. The program is certainly worth it for those already interested in Anthropology, and the professors at the school are all great. They are able to be personable with the students due to small class sizes, with seminar courses often ranging between 5-10 students. The small class sizes also allows for a tight knit group of students who will often share a majority of classes.
The facilities at the school are quite nice as well, a fitness centre is open to all students and is never too busy, there are private study rooms as well as a myriad of small nooks with comfortable chairs to study or relax on between classes. The largest issue is navigating the school, due to its linear nature it can take some time to get from one end to the other.
As for continuing work, I found my professors willing to act as professional references for jobs, though the job market for Anthropology itself is small, the degree will be able to help with other, broader, career choices, especially in Education.
View moreAttending University was a rollercoaster ride. Overall, it was a great experience at MacEwan. My interest in psychology grew when I took it as an elective and decided to make it my major subject. I learnt different fields of psychology and how each of them plays a unique role. The good part about university is the choice you get when you’re doing electives which provides you with a chance to explore various subjects. The improvement part would be to include some volunteer hours in order to complete the course which gives some experience that is required nowadays. The volunteer experience with the course would help students gain good jobs once they graduate.
View moreI’m currently studying to become a nurse and MacEwan university has a great nursing program one of the top ones in Edmonton because it’s very hands-on.
The professors are very friendly, relatable and open with students. Of course, there are some that also aren’t the nicest and can be rude as well. So far I like the school it’s located in downtown Edmonton and the campus is up to date and easy to get around. However limited on what kind of restaurants it has on campus, because of its locations there are tons of other places to go to within walking distance.
The school could improve on class options. I find they don’t have a good selection of interesting classes to take as electives, especially in the history and language areas. The school is diverse there are tons of international students and the professors come from all backgrounds as well. I really look forward to finishing my education at MacEwan University.
