I was not the biggest fan of my degree due to the fact that it essentially just was not for me. I have constantly strived for new learning and something new everyday and with the constant sociological aspect of the degree it made it feel very repetitive and was not of my interest.
View moreThe University of Guelph has a great academic and student atmosphere. Numerous free resources will help students to succeed. However, minor issues need to be resolved in this area. For example, course outlines should be posted before classes begin to give students an idea of what the semester looks like before it starts. Furthermore, at the start of my university endeavor, I was shy, so I was worried about my ability to make friends. My peers were all very welcoming, kind, and friendly, making it easy to make friends.
View moreReally great program. It’s the perfect mix of law, criminology, political science, history, and sociology. I really enjoyed studying the diverse disciplines and the specialized courses in each field. For instance, my favourite courses were, Conflict and Conflict Resolution, Homicide, War and Politics, Constitution and the Charter or Fights and Freedoms. Not too many jobs in this field, so it would have been nice to have more opinions.
View moreThe part that I liked about this program was the interactiveness in some of my classes. Like participating in a class-wide survey, and anonymously hearing other students’ answers. It gave an interactive element even during covid to get to know other people and to learn more about social factors in people’s lives. The classes are broad and there is a large range of topics that can be studied within this program which gives me a chance to widen my horizon in my studies. Within the school in general there weren’t a lot of opportunities for meeting people outside of a residence in the first year during covid. I feel that if they did more activities that appeal to more types of people I feel that it could’ve helped more people meet each other. I wouldn’t say that the school is international, compared to others it is mostly people from smaller towns in Ontario, and not very many from other countries or other cities in Canada. In terms of my career prospects I feel that Guelph is giving good education for the program, and with a certificate in business that was very easy to add to my major.
