My experience as an international student at this university has been a mix of positive and challenging aspects. On the positive side, the university offers excellent research and teaching opportunities that are directly relevant to the field of study. I have also received the most unconditional support from my supervisor, which has been invaluable. The student services are impressive as well, including access to a well-equipped library, gym classes, and the convenience of a central city location.
However, there have been notable difficulties. Sudden government changes to international student rules, often implemented with as little as one or two weeks’ notice, created significant uncertainty. Although the university was not responsible for these changes, its response and guidance were insufficient. In particular, the International Student Office lacked the necessary knowledge and was less helpful than I expected.
Overall, while the academic and campus resources are substantial, international students may face challenges related to external policy changes and inconsistent support from the university’s international office.
