View moreArriving at my final year while pursuing my Undergraduate degree in Marketing here at Concordia University, I think I can confidently say that the JMSB Faculty offers numerous opportunities for career development ranging from the diverse and ever growing student associations to the assistance provided by the wonderful Career Management Services to help students secure internship. Concordia also offers a CO-OP Program, allowing students to alternate between their studies and work term to gain more hands-on work experience.
In terms of education, or at least from my experience in the Marketing program, Concordia University are equipped with professors who are clearly experienced within the marketing fields. They not only brings theory to the table, but also shares about their personal experiences and help direct students toward opportunities to help realize their potential.
As for the community, Concordia University are rich with student associations which may relate to your interests, allowing you to take part in their workshops and events. But if you can’t find any student associations that are geared towards what you may be looking for then you also have the option of starting on yourself!
One of the major thing I notice about Concordia University compared to the other universities located here in Montreal like McGill or UQAM is that competition tends to be RELATIVELY less intense. If you thrive in those environment then Concordia University may not be the most suitable place for you. However, if you like the learning environment where you can work to improve yourself at your own pace, then Concordia University will be able to fulfill your needs. That is not to say there isn’t any competition at all, there just isn’t as much social pressure.
View moreThe Communication program at Concordia University will prepare you for the future. The program is divided in two blocks: one more theoretical, from which you learn the concept of communications through the perspective of philosophy, history and social studies; another completely hands-on in which you learn how to produce media choosing from three streams; sound, moving images, intermedia. What I love about the communication program at Concordia is that the teachers are clever, up to date, and exited about putting the future in the hands of students. Not only there is so much to learn in the communication program, but there are also so many opportunities!
View moreConcordia university is one of the top listed universities not just in Canada but worldwide. The most amazing thing about this university is it is a standalone English speaking university in Montreal that allows non francophone students to enrol and study efficiently. My program is beautifully designed with access to high quality classrooms and faculty members that are available every time to attend your queries. The huge campus of the University including the library allows students to indulge in group work and research programs. The administration staff is super supportive and polite in their conversations. I have had the most amazing experience studying at Concordia so far.
View moreI have spent a significant portion of my academic journey at Concordia University, studying in the Graduate Diploma Program. This period at Concordia has been a mixed bag of experiences, with its own share of ups and downs.
One of the aspects I truly appreciated about Concordia University is its diverse student community. The multicultural environment encouraged cross-cultural understanding and fostered a global perspective that I found to be extremely enriching. I was constantly intrigued by the vast array of perspectives offered by my peers from various parts of the world.
The faculty at Concordia is another aspect worth mentioning. The professors are highly knowledgeable and displayed a great deal of enthusiasm in their respective fields. Their willingness to engage with students and clarify concepts outside the classroom was commendable and contributed significantly to my learning.
On the other hand, the academic scheduling at Concordia posed a significant challenge for me. Due to a delay in my visa processing, I joined the Graduate Diploma Program in the Winter semester instead of the Fall semester. Consequently, I missed crucial prerequisite courses, which made it quite challenging to keep up with the rest of the curriculum. The University could perhaps offer more flexibility in this regard to accommodate unforeseen situations like mine.
Furthermore, I felt that the program was heavily theory-based, and there was a lack of practical, hands-on experience. While understanding the theory is important, incorporating more practical applications and real-world examples could make the learning experience more engaging and relevant.
In summary, my experience at Concordia University was a learning curve, both academically and personally. While there were elements that could be improved upon, the exposure and knowledge I gained have undoubtedly contributed to my overall growth. I am grateful for the opportunities Concordia has provided me, and I believe the lessons learned here will be instrumental in my future endeavours.

View moreOverall I have enjoyed my time at Concordia University although the beginning of my studies where greatly influenced by the pandemic. Concordia offers various tools of support to its students both administrative and academic. They are made accessible but can sometimes be hard to find without taking the conscious initiative to seek them. This fosters the university’s goal to foster independent and proactive minds.
I would recommend Concordia University to anyone who would like to benefit from a hands-on and smaller teaching environment. Professors are made available to students because of the size of the classes which also improves opportunities to participate and build academic relationships.
