    Friendly and welcoming campus environment

I studied Psychology at UPEI and completed my degree in 1999. As a mature student, I was grateful for the support groups and resources the university offered for older students—it helped me feel included and supported from the beginning. While some of my early classes were larger, the professors were approachable and genuinely interested in assisting students to succeed.

The Psychology program allowed flexibility to explore different interests, from theory to mental health topics, and I appreciated the balanced academic environment. The campus was friendly and easy to navigate, and the smaller size helped build a sense of community.

I’d recommend UPEI to anyone looking for a solid academic experience in a supportive and close-knit setting, especially those returning to school later in life.

    Support programs for mature/older students

I studied Psychology at UPEI as a mature student. While some of the intro classes were larger initially, I appreciated how the university maintained a welcoming, personal feel. One of the best parts for me was the support group for older or non-traditional students — it made a big difference in helping me feel connected and supported.

The professors were approachable, and I liked having the freedom to explore different areas of Psychology. UPEI may be a smaller university, but it offers a great community and solid academic foundation, especially for students seeking a more personal learning experience.
