Carleton University (CU) has a beautiful campus located centrally in Ottawa. The campus is surrounded by nature making it pleasant to study outdoors. In the winter, the river adjacent to the University is a great place to skate which is commonly enjoyed by students. Unfortunately, I am not that great at skating.
Carleton University also has a network of tunnels linking all the buildings. The tunnels are incredibly convenient during the harsh winters of Ontario, especially if you’re an international student whose not used to freezing temperatures.
Many students attend CU – it can get quite crowded. I often had issues regarding parking on campus. Prices for parking are quite steep (we are students) if you manage to find parking. Students often park at the park opposite CU (across Bronson Avenue). However, they are met with a 3 hour time limit. Fortunately, CU provides access to busses (included in tuition with an opt out option) which is what I resorted to in the end.
Overall, I would recommend CU to national and international students. The experience I have had is incredible (after COVID) and have met many wonderful people who have come from all over the world.
