The University of Calgary is one of the most affordable options for international students who still want study in one of Canada’s top 10 universities. Some programs, like kinesiology and engineering, have been highly acclaimed. The sciences and the arts are fine. Definitely up to the standards, but they aren’t the most invested-in faculties.
View moreOverall a great university. Really good for research and it’s located In Calgary which is a really good place. It has a great gym, concentrates on sports activities, lot of fairs, festivals and so on. Great environment too. Just need to upgrade a few facilities of theirs and reduce the number of online classes.
View moreI love that most of the professors I have had were passionate about their job. This makes it easy for me to learn and retain information that are said in class. They provide a lot of extra resources to practice with and read outside class. I find this extremely helpful as I need those extra resources for me to be successful in the course. However, I have had professors that do not teach key materials and would just show us how to do practice examples on their lecture notes. I personally find this frustrating.
View moreThe university is always emailing students for possible volunteer opportunities. As well as workshops, career fairs, scholarships and competitions. Personally, I find it extremely useful to further my knowledge and experience especially the ones related to my degree and future career.
View moreAt the start of my first year, I was terrified about what this new chapter would bring. I was worried that others would be kept to themselves and professors would leave me alone to figure out the material. However, I was surprised, as everyone was amiable and social. It made me feel better about the transition from high school to university. Furthermore, the professors were highly understanding as they always do their best to ensure you understand the content being taught. So far, I am having an amazing time.
View moreIn my limited experience I’d have had a better experience if I was someone who could spread my focuses more thinly, I met the best people, but it was a difficult place to balance things and its hard to establish professional relationships when things are large scale and feel pretty fast moving.
