Student review [#9709] for Telecommunications Engineering
at University of Tuzla - UNTZ

What should I say about my Uni? It’s not honey and milk and it is not all the way bad. Why is not bad to the bone? Because there are few Faculties that are working their ass off for their students, one example is Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Even them have their problems, and when I say that I mean they have a lot of problems but at least they are doing something better than any other part of Uni.

Like my title says, ancient times requires ancient technologies, and this is not only about tech we are using for our lab work or in our classes, its about professors too. There is a lot of old professors who are not willing to make their lectures interesting to their audience and they are ignoring everything that students want or they think it is better. We are still in 1970’s with any organization of classes, exams, lab works and many others.

Students from Med Faculty are working on bodies where they can’t see anything and can’t learn anything. People from Faculty of Electrical Engineering don’t have normal PC’s to work on and I shouldn’t mention other equipment from Yugoslavia.

The thing is, there are many professors and assistants that are willing to help students in times of need, but others are just there to put their presentation on a projector and try to “educate” students about their subject, which is not working well. After that, don’t even mail them, call them or let them know you need something. The big part of this is that many of them are still thinking that students are there because of them and not that they are there because of students. If you look at statistics you can see that every year there is less and less people on this public University while students are going on private University where things are quite better then here.

At the end, probably one of the worst reasons for such a bad rate for this Uni is politics. Because of the really complex organization of our government and many subsections of it, there are Cantons and one of them, Tuzla Canton, is where University of Tuzla takes place. With many nationalistic parties in politics which are bad for the country itself, University is occupied with people who don’t know to work their job and they are there only because they are a member of that politic party. So, in few words, politics are present on University of Tuzla even tho by the Statute of UNTZ they shouldn’t be. Like many things in this country this one is falling down with everything else and it is because the government with bought diploma’s from private Universities can decide what is the best option for public University and what is not.

Why I didn’t go to EU and study there? Because I was young and stupid.
