Academy of Music in Sarajevo offers eight art and scientific departments. I am a student of musicology and the degree of quality of this study program is at a high level. This study’s specifics are small groups that allow close relations between students and professors. As a shortcoming, I would single out the lack of staff, which makes it challenging to expand the topics in the teaching process. Academy of Music is a faculty with students from all over the region. Still, the position of art and culture in the social context is at a very unsatisfactory level, which makes employment difficult after graduation. Despite that, my five years of experience have confirmed that the Academy of Music would be my choice even if I started from the beginning.

View moreFacilities are mostly outdated, with a great need of remodelling, especially in the main campus, which was repurposed from a military barracks. No one cares about the students and their needs, but the knowledge gained at this University is far more superior to any other private University in the country.
View moreIn general, the university is what you would expect of a former Yugoslav country. Not very modern buildings, facilities, and textbooks but it’s the effort some professors put in with the limited resources they have that really makes the University good. Of course, not all professors are like this but the ones that are, really make the student life worth it. As a supplement to their university education, Students often form student associations or join them so that they can educate themselves further. Every faculty has one and there are a lot of international ones as well. The most successful one (biased opinion since I am a member) is EESTEC LC Sarajevo 🙂 I suggest you join one of the student associations since they really do a great job here.
View moreI’m from Faculty of Philosophy at University of Sarajevo. There is very bad organization. Sometimes professors are unfair and they are not evaluated for their rude behaviour even if it is obvious. Workers of the Student Service are often in bad mood and they are not polite. Students are studying from very old literature. There is no new technology in my faculty and equipment of psychological laboratory is often unfunctional.
View moreThis is Bosnia’s biggest University and one of the oldest with long history. Even though it’s the biggest it’s not the best, the university is still trying to modernize the curricula and to bring new methods of teaching but the process is really slow, they are participating in the ICM but they are not using it fully. If you want to be a researcher in this university you wouldn’t have any opportunity to do that. But given it’s in the capital you have more opportunity to work on your skills and go to seminar, trainings and conferences
View moreThe department of Computer and Information studies on Faculty of Traffic and Communications could provide students a higher chance of employment by extending their views beyond classic CS and IT in general, but the obsolete syllabus is obstructing the students and not letting them focus on what matters but making them gain often only theoretical knowledge about things that are irrelevant for their career.
View moreAlthough the equipment, facilities and such are not on the highest level the strong point of this university (at least my faculty – Faculty of Electrical Engineering) lies in its teachers and other academical staff. There are a lot of extracurricular activities and student organizations which can help you build your skills and prepare for the job market.
