I joined KU Leuven in 2020, we started with classes in person and later moved to online teaching as the pandemic escalated. My program: the Advanced Master’s in Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies is intensive with a heavy load; however, it is doable with the availability of a third exam period. The courses are interesting, with insightful readings and case studies, even though they mostly focus on Europe and Africa. Due to online studying, student life was challenging, but again, because of blended learning, we got the most of it. Moreover, the program is heavily anthropological with a tad of development studies, which wasn’t what I expected at first. We started right away with critiquing anthropology and with no previous introductory courses for those of us who had their background in a different domain. I believe the necessary changes to the program were made in the academic year 2021/2022. Nevertheless, I feel optimistic about my career prospects, as the program doesn’t limit us to one specific domain, on the contrary, you can choose the courses you take along the way and tailor the program according to your interests and career prospects. Overall, I would recommend it!
