I had a good experience during my Master’s in Business Management at ICHEC. I found the Master’s much easier and more accessible than the Bachelor’s degree. It is also more focused, as you can choose three options depending on what you are interested in.
The courses are generally very interesting and the professors are competent and approachable. I especially liked the finance courses, as some of the course materials were based on CFA materials, which is very useful if you are interested in finance or considering taking the CFA exam.
However, I think the common core could be improved. The Master’s is still quite general, and I think it would be better to have more specialised programmes, for example a specific Master’s in Finance or Accounting, for students who already know which direction they want to take.
Another small downside is that there is less focus on languages compared to the Bachelor’s. My Master’s was in English, but I felt that my Dutch level decreased during these two years because there was less practice.
One of the things I really appreciated at ICHEC is the support between students. There are Messenger and Facebook groups for each year where students share summaries, information, advice and help each other with courses and exams. Students are generally very supportive and there is a real sense of mutual help.
Overall, I had a good experience at ICHEC. The group work also helps you meet other students, even though the lack of a traditional campus can sometimes make integration a little more difficult.
