The study environment is very good. Teachers are very cooperative and helpful. Guide each student according to their interest. Working spaces are very interactive and also personal. Nice facilities of model making studio, shop from where you can but materials for working and also good printing room. Also, have a good space where you can photograph your design models with a white background ad then edit them. The course outline of English master’s is very interesting, also for exchange students.

It was a one year master’s program in which we studied about the reuse of abandoned buildings. How you can reuse existing building stock for new functions with necessary interventions keeping in mind the heritage and architectural values of the building.
We did multiple site visits and workshops within Europe including Rome, Wuppertal, Brussels, Maastricht etc.
In the second semester, we were allowed to choose our own project for the thesis and design studio.

My time at Hasselt University was truly transformative — a blend of academic growth, cultural exchange, and personal development. From the start, I was warmly welcomed and supported, which made the transition to Belgium much smoother. The international master’s program in Interior Architecture offered enriching study trips and a diverse community that encouraged cross-cultural learning. While adapting to a new academic system was challenging in the beginning, the support from professors and local classmates helped me adjust quickly. These positive experiences led me to pursue a PhD within the same department, where I found a close-knit, collaborative environment and continued opportunities for research and professional growth. UHasselt has given me lasting friendships, meaningful experiences, and a true sense of belonging.

Hasselt University offers an inclusive and connected learning environment. During my International Master of Interior Architecture, I studied alongside peers from all over the world — a truly enriching experience that extended far beyond the classroom. Most people in Hasselt speak English, and UHasselt also offers Dutch lessons for those who want to integrate further. The one-year program was intense, but the strong international community made it easier to adapt and thrive. The program’s focus on adaptive reuse inspired my research interests and shaped my career path — I am now continuing at UHasselt as a PhD student, while also teaching in the same international Master’s program that first brought me here.
