I am really enjoying studying at the VUB!
It is a very open-minded and international university where everyone can truly be themselves. The professors are approachable, and the assistants are even more: we can often even call them by their first name! I like the freedom you get to choose your own courses according to your interests, especially in Biology, where you can design your master’s programme almost entirely based on courses you really love. The campus also really feels like a real campus which I love. What I liked a bit less is the administration at the VUB, which can sometimes be confusing or difficult to understand. But I’ve also heard the same from friends at other universities, so I think that’s quite common everywhere. Overall, I would really recommend the VUB.

VUB is a really well managed university and the thing i liked about it was its freedom.
Students enjoy a lot of freedom whether it is for classes, or exams, and the labs of molecular biology department are well equipped.
The atmosphere in the labs was something, i found really good as compared to other Flemish institutes

The lecturers are diligent and committed to their work and are very patient with the students in general. They are always willing to provide help to the students. The school environment is serene and great. The students’ social life is quite okay. My career prospects are good.

I enrolled in VUB for the first time as a Master’s student in Molecular Biology. I have to admit VUB’s curriculum was tough and hectic and it took me longer than I originally planned to complete. The school has new and modern laboratories with generous space. Professors are esteemed scientists with high expectations for their students.
It seems that VUB is very open to international students and anyone can get in. I am divided on this matter because I think we all should have access to quality education and VUB has been giving just that.
