The University of Rajshahi is one of the most well-known public universities in Bangladesh, respected for its long academic history and strong emphasis on theoretical education. I completed my graduation here, majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, a discipline that demands both deep theoretical understanding and hands-on laboratory skills.
From an academic perspective, the university provided a solid foundation in core theoretical concepts. The curriculum was comprehensive and rigorous, covering essential topics in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, enzymology, and related fields. The faculty members were knowledgeable and dedicated, and many courses encouraged critical thinking and conceptual clarity. This strong theoretical grounding has been valuable in helping me understand complex scientific ideas and adapt to new knowledge in my professional life.
However, one significant limitation of the program was the lack of sufficient practical and laboratory-based training. While practical classes were included in the curriculum, they were often limited in scope, resources, and exposure to modern techniques. As a result, students did not always get enough opportunities to develop hands-on skills that are essential in professional and research-oriented environments. This gap became more apparent to me after entering the workforce, where practical expertise, laboratory confidence, and familiarity with advanced instruments are crucial.
In my professional experience, I realized that although I was well-prepared theoretically, I had to invest extra time and effort to build practical skills that could have been strengthened during my undergraduate studies. Improving laboratory infrastructure, increasing practical class hours, and aligning training with current industry and research standards would greatly enhance the program’s effectiveness.
Overall, the University of Rajshahi offers a strong academic environment with a firm emphasis on theoretical knowledge. With greater focus on practical training and modern laboratory exposure, it has the potential to prepare students more holistically for professional and research careers in biochemistry and molecular biology.
It’s pretty much good. But you have to debunk the myth that if you get admitted here, your future will be secured. Nowadays varsity matters very less for computer science-related subject, you can go for self-education for this type of subject…. If you wanna study mechanical or civil engineering. Related faculty then without any doubt it’s the best one because lab opportunity is pretty good for those faculties.
