The block mode at VU is very effective for me, I’ve never taken the traditional uni route, I’ve started with block mode since the beginning and wouldn’t change it! It takes a lot of my anxiety away knowing I only have to focus on 1 unit and its own contents at a time. It helps me focus on specific content and assignments instead of multiple like the traditional uni timetable. Only downside is that 1 whole unit will be covered in a span on 4 weeks, so being on top of everything is key, if you skip some lessons making up for them is a defiantly time consuming. Teachers for my units have been pretty good overall, there have been some units where its harder to grasp the content because of teaching methods used by some teachers, but i feel like that goes for every uni! So I would definitely recommend the block mode to students for sure 🙂 The student life at VU is pretty great too! I’ve joined a club at the start of this year and its going amazing, I got an opportunity to become the secretary oft that social club, so I’ve had many experiences and opportunities to organise, plan and participate in fun events! And with that came with so many friendships, especially with international students, and honestly its a really great networking opportunity!
