The University of Notre Dame Australia offers a unique blend of academic rigor and a strong sense of community. From my first day on campus, I felt embraced by the supportive environment fostered by both faculty and fellow students. The small class sizes allow for personalized attention, and professors genuinely care about our success. One of the standout features of Notre Dame is its commitment to service learning; many courses incorporate community service, which has enriched my educational experience and allowed me to give back to the community.
However, the university’s strong Catholic identity may not resonate with everyone. Some students feel that the religious aspect can be a bit overwhelming, especially during events or discussions that emphasize faith. Additionally, while the campus is beautiful and well-maintained, the social scene can feel somewhat limited compared to larger universities. It often requires extra effort to find diverse social activities.
There is a strong catholic presence on campus. A very holy and Christian like warmly feeling given the magnificent cathedral and old buildings. The staff are very friendly and approachable. The students are sociable and always helpful towards each other. The international student association has many events on a weekly and monthly basis.

The personal connection between Notre Dame staff and the student is what has let me grow. Having constant feedback and honest conversations about both academic work and day-to-day life is an aspect I truly value. Not only do I get to walk into class and know my tutor or lecturer, they know me. They know my strengths and weaknesses, therefore they know how I can improve over the semester. Notre Dame sets you up for success, because having someone with you every step of the way is one of the most comforting sentiments needed to prove you are worthy of the title you wish to earn.
With this connection between staff and students, it is a step forward to set you up in the real world. For example, my Public Relations lecturer and tutor was the key person in securing me a job at a government authority, despite only being in my second year. She was the one to check in on me and make sure everything was running smoothly, that my application process was done in a timely manner, and if something was wrong she made the calls and emails.
Notre Dame provides you all of this because they genuinely care about you. You stick with the same cohort and tutors/lecturers for the entirety of your degree, you learn together, and you grow together, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
