I currently attend The University of Queensland here in St Lucia, Brisbane Australia. I’m also in my last year studying a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice. One of the many reasons I decided to pick UQ as my top preference was their campus culture I witnessed as I attend their UQ Open Days as a high school student. The hustle and bustle of students rushing to class, going to get a bite to eat or laying around in the Great Court sparked something in me and I knew this was where I wanted to study. After being in university for a couple of years, I’ve had the pleasure of joining one of their clubs which I hold dear to my heart which is The University of Queensland South Pacific Island Association (UQSPIA). This club was in a way of feeling at home while being away at home as I am a proud Samoan. By being apart of this club I’ve found a way to connect back to my culture as well as reaching my academic goals at the same time. Not only this, but creating life long friendships with the other members of this club who I now call family. I’ve also been selected to undertake the role as Treasurer in 2023 working alongside other like-minded students with the executive team. I’m so proud and honoured to have this place not only in UQSPIA but to also call myself a UQ student.
