The continued industrial action is harming students. I appreciate academic staff need to be paid more. And in the meantime, staff have such strong boundaries around their effort that students are suffering! Their passion is limited, students in research degrees get little assistance from their supervisors, questions on assignments go unanswered, and in some courses, take 9 weeks to mark assignments with copy-and-pasted feedback the same as everyone elses!

We did lots of group work and collaboration between individuals, preparing us for the work environment.
The weekly tutorial sessions were very helpful and provided insight to differing opinions.
Also, the differing Levels of assignments to be handed in during the semester was beneficial, as opposed to relying on one exam at the end of semester or the year.
View moreMy experience at RMIT has been lonely. I started uni when covid-19 had just began and spent the entire lockdown alone in my apartment. i did the first 2 years of my degree in the lockdown, online; alone in my room. It was difficult to make friends in that situation. The 3 yr (current yr) started with placement (as a student of bachelor’s in social work i have to do 2 placements, 500 hours each). This is the worst part of it all. We have to do placement for 500 hours without any pay. 6 months of work and labour for free. No pay and no travel fees given. my placement was 1 hour from my place. i had to take a train and spend my own money everyday to come and go from placement and not the uni nor the placement covered those costs. I still have 500 hours of placement left and I will have to do that also without any pay to get my degree.
