What Is a Marketing Degree?

A business cannot survive if its products are not marketed in the proper way. Luckily for all the businesses out there, the number of candidates wanting to pursue a marketing career is growing tremendously. 

The aim of this degree is to help students anticipate, manage, and satisfy customers’ needs and wants. By doing so, they will be able to effectively communicate the benefits of any business product to the targeted market. 

Due to the fact that marketing is a complex industry, which tackles many areas ranging from market research to advertising and promotion, this degree focuses on all parts of the process before concentrating on a particular area of study.

 

Benefits of a Marketing Degree

Good news for marketing graduates! If you did not know yet, marketing is an essential aspect of all types of businesses, from all sectors of activity. Thus, all of them rely on marketers to promote and sell their products. A high market demand comes with many job opportunities available. 

According to Labor Department Findings, graduates with a marketing degree can earn 98% more per hour than the ones working in the industry without having a specialised degree.

Furthermore, students are equipped with transferable skills, such as excellent communication abilities, strategic thinking, planning, data analysis and so on, that can be used in other industries too.

Marketing Degree Structure

Marketing degrees can be studied either as Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). The major difference lies in the presence of more scientific and technological aspects, which are commonly seen in a BSc rather than a BA. 

Like most degrees, marketing courses last between three and four years, depending on the university. However, there are institutions which give students the possibility to do a two-year associate’s degree – also called a ‘foundation’ degree. 

Even if graduating from both degrees qualifies candidates to work in this industry, a Bachelor degree has higher chances to lead you to well-paid jobs.

    Kind professors but old curricula

    The University of Belgrano can feel a bit like high school in some ways. Classes are small—using my own experience as an example, our Bachelor’s in Advertising group had only about 15 students, and we stayed together for the entire four years. The upside? You really get to know your classmates, which can lead to strong, long-term friendships. The downside? You miss out on the broader university experience of interacting with a diverse range of students across different fields.

    Another quirk is that we had the same professors almost every trimester, just teaching different subjects. Unfortunately, only one or two throughout the entire program truly felt experienced and professional.

    On top of that, the curriculum was outdated. We didn’t learn anything about digital marketing, Google or Meta ads, SEO/SEM, or the use of artificial intelligence in advertising—nothing truly relevant to today’s industry. Instead, the focus remained on traditional advertising, leaving us unprepared for the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
    That being said, one standout feature was their excellent international mobility program. Thanks to it, I had the opportunity to study in Barcelona for six months—an incredible experience. The university made the process smooth, ensuring subject correlation and approving my requests without hassle.
    In conclusion, I would recommend the University of Belgrano to students who prefer a smaller, more familiar learning environment rather than a large university with hundreds of students. It’s also a good fit for those juggling other projects and unable to dedicate their full attention to university, as well as for people looking to study fields not available at public universities.

    Excellent Option

    I would recommend the University of Belgrano when choosing where to study for a postgraduate degree because of its academic validity, modern and accessible equipment, and the expertise of the master’s tutor. The tutor is also able to share specific knowledge in clear terms and with examples of practical application in the workplace, making it an excellent option. The process is very quick, allowing students to optimize the time they spend on their subjects. The small size of the classrooms, which are well-lit and ventilated, encourages the connection between students and teachers, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Its central location makes it accessible from different areas of Buenos Aires. It can be reached by various bus and subway lines. It is important to note that it is an expensive university.:the cost of registration and fees are not accessible to everyone.
