As a fresh high school graduate looking to pursue STEM education USTHB seems like the obvious choice for many considering its history, reputation and its contribution to the upbringing of state engineers , however upon spending almost 4 years there i realized that there is a lot more to it that perhaps was not made evident to me before applying.
The factor that stands out the most is how difficult the exams are regardless of the degree as most professors tend to want to test the students’s problem solving abilities rather than their ability to memorize the courses and the solutions.
One other thing that stands out is the rather low level of some of the students there, to put into consideration how difficult it is to obtain a degree there you’d think there would a be more strict application and selection process however that’s not the case and most people that apply get accepted and then later face these challenges that they were unaware of leading to poor performance of their part.
This university is for hard working people who have a lot of time to dedicate to their studies and are not distracted by other occupations such as work or travel…
I also find undergraduate programs there tend to be incomplete and that most students feel the need to apply for masters if they want to actually find work in their field of study.
