Great study facilities, intense study programme

Erasmus University Rotterdam is located in the second most populated city in the Netherlands and it provides a great environment for international students. I am following International Business Economics course at Erasmus School of Economics, that has quite high ratings among Europe universities.

EUR has great study facilities – rennovated library, Polak building – super nice places to study at, there atr lots of sunlight, personal computers, comfy orange chairs. Moreover, these two building are open till midnigt (so you can study in peace uite a bunch of time). What makes EUR special is its thoroughly planned Woudestein campus: lots of parking spaces for bycicles and cars (underground), resting areas with fountain, carillon tower (which is simply bells – typical Dutch instrument, and they offer free lessons of how to play it!), around ten buildings (each of them has a name and a letter, but they do not coincide, thus Van de Goot building is M-building and Mandeville building is T-building), food court and study store. I geniunely enjoy the study environment there, and everybody including university staff is quite friendly and supportive!

A bit of cons: you need to buy books every seven weeks (at least for economics faculty, as I’ll be referring to it now and on) and they cost a fortune. Every seven weeks you have an eight credit course and a four credit course and if you haven’t started studying from the very first day you are a bit screwed up ( unless you are a genius who can cover tons of study material in one night). So it’s intense. Thing that sometimes annoys me – it’s that all your writing assignments are graded quite subjectively (but you can’t do anything with it, unless you want to decrease your grade) and exams always involve a point of randomness ( even if you didn’t do that exercise during the course you are supposed to wake up your reserves of intelligence and nail it, which sometimes I fail to do, sincerely speaking).

Most of professors are real professionl in their area (some of them even have nice teaching talent, I’m really grateful to that though, others are just great and smart people). Never hestitate to approach them and ask questions that bothers you!

I would totally recommend EUR for everybody who is up for serious learning!
