My name is Deborah Olavarría and I currently work as an attorney of law.Since I was a child, I have been dreaming about becoming a lawyer and setting up my own law firm.
Recently, the dream has come true. I want to share with you how I got where I am today and inspire you to follow your goals and dreams.
Even though it can sound like it was effortless to get here, it was not an easy way to go through. It takes so much sacrifice and effort, that sometimes it is tempting to give up. It is here where comes the perseverance that makes you keep on pursuing your goals.
Find the most appropriate school for you
Also, studying in the right law schools makes the difference. That is why I feel obligated to thank the Pontifical University of Comillas. Back in 2011, I completed my Masters in International Affairs at its campus in Madrid.
I had lately found myself attracted to international legal and financial issues. Hence, I decided to enroll in a further training which could provide me with extra knowledge about these two fields. Accordingly, these Masters’ subjects were as good as its professors. The classes were enlightening and very diverse and the professors’ teaching abilities made the students get totally involved in EU legal and economic framework and get ready to jump straight to the work scenario.
This school, most known as ICADE, encouraged me to achieve my career target. In fact, I was even combining this course with my job at C.E.O.E. I recall the experience as one of the most rewarding ones of my academic background.
Work hard to get a good first job or internship
Right after my graduation, I got a job at Ramon & Cajal Associates where I worked as an attorney for several years before moving out to the U.S. and specialized myself in Litigation completing my studies with an LL.M. and provided with my legal services the U.S. Court of International Trade and Michael J. Kapin Associates in New York.
Nowadays, I am focused on running my law firm. Based in Madrid, Olavarria Asociados offers an excellent consultation to its clients, providing them the proper defense inside and outside Courts, in regards of both national and international legal advisement. With work and effort, everything is possible.
