Top-tier education and a thriving student life

As an international student, my experience at the university has been nothing short of exceptional, offering a balanced combination of academic excellence and a vibrant student life. From an educational standpoint, the university ranks highly across a range of disciplines and provides excellent facilities for both learning and research. I am a final year student studying law and I particularly love how our learning is structured. My seminars are incredibly interactive and engaging, with a strong focus on vocational knowledge. This has made my academic experience both enriching and practical. The university equips your studies with a range of access to resources, libraries to state-of-the-art research facilities, and the support from academic tutors has been invaluable in guiding me through my coursework. Beyond academics, the social and extracurricular aspects of university life are equally impressive. The campus is dynamic, with numerous clubs, societies, and events catering to a wide array of interests. The Freshers' Fair is a great opportunity to explore these options, and the university’s union hosts regular events, gigs, and social gatherings. As an international student, the multicultural environment has made it easy to connect with people from all over the world, creating a welcoming and inclusive community. The city of Leeds itself adds to the experience – it's vibrant, bustling, and full of opportunities for both social and cultural exploration. The support services at the University are also commendable. From academic guidance to personal well-being, there’s a strong system in place to ensure that students have the resources they need to thrive. Overall, my time at the University has been an enriching blend of top-tier education and a thriving student life. It’s a place where both personal and academic growth are supported, and I would recommend it to any international student looking for a comprehensive, inclusive, and exciting university experience.

Accounting and Finance Bachelors

I studied for 4 years in UOP - First-year foundation and 3-year bachelor's. The university buildings are spread around the city which means a typical day would be attending classes in different parts of the city - depending on the lectures you take. The degree program includes several interesting modules that contain knowledge that is applicable in your everyday life. One particular module I enjoyed was Financial markets and Institutions - which generally discusses the money markets and institutions and how they interact with each other. One key skill I picked up from the latter was the ability to analyse and make an educated judgement on investing in the stock market. Other key modules include Financial Reporting, Taxation, and Management Accounting - if you plan on pursuing a career in accounting and attempt the Acca, these three modules in addition to others give exemptions to several topics in the first 2 levels of the ACCA. Generally, I did not find the lectures and seminars at the university engaging therefore the motivation to attend them was not there. However, I found that attending the lectures and getting good grades are linked. The student life in UOP consists mainly of nights out - there is minimal to do in the city and few events throughout the year. On the other hand, the close-knit community of students (which is due to the many student accommodation buildings) makes you feel very welcome as an international student. There is a very diverse sum of students from all over the world. All in all, I would recommend the university to others.

Learning in a practical way

This university has a lot of qualities such as adapting to students in order to optimize learning, and the desire to confront the student as quickly as possible with the world of work. On the other hand, I would criticize this school for poorly disseminated information and a gloomy community life.

The amazing professors/teachers there!

First of all since my campus was in the heart of Rome, the place and inside of the university was like a whole museum. I love how friendly and helpful the staff was, the professors were one in a million. I love how they did all their best to tell us about the subjects in detail and in a fun way with examples for us to get into it more. I liked how they make time and engage in it and actually help us to teach us, so it was all in one reading writing with our own brain and infos searching for the sources by ourselves listening but also being able to express our own way of knowledge on the topics!
