I started my Bachelor of Arts in Travel and Tourism at the University of Nairobi in 2015. The program gave me a solid foundation for understanding how the tourism and travel industry works, both locally and internationally. The coursework explored important areas like tourism management, destination development, and sustainable tourism. Through these subjects, I developed a deeper appreciation for how tourism drives economic growth and fosters cultural exchange. The lectures were not only knowledgeable but also genuinely supportive, often going the extra mile to mentor students beyond the classroom. Being in Nairobi was a real advantage. We had direct exposure to a vibrant tourism sector and a variety of industry stakeholders, which made learning much more practical and meaningful. Although some administrative processes could be a bit slow at times, my overall academic experience was truly rewarding. I recommend this program to anyone interested in building a career in the tourism and travel industry.
Daystar University gtaught me the importance of expressing myself and respectfully disagreeing with opinions that i djid not subscribe to. The university taught me that as much as i am leader i should not be afraid to be hands on on any given task in life and work space. A servant leader leads by example and does not instill fear to those he is leading.
As a first-year Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) student, I can confidently say this university is a complete disappointment. The lack of communication between lecturers and students is shocking—emails go unanswered, and there’s no support when issues arise. The infrastructure is falling apart—old, broken chairs that look like they belong in a primary school, dusty classrooms, and ancient computers that barely function (some seem to be from the early 2000s!). How are we supposed to learn modern computer science on relics? The online unit registration is a nightmare—it’s glitchy, unreliable, and has caused me to lose crucial units. Shockingly, even the fundamental computer science unit (the core of the degree!) was missing from allocations. The administration does nothing to fix these issues. Lecturers are unreliable—showing up late or not at all, with no makeup classes. The systems are always slow, and there are zero extracurricular activities, making campus life dull and isolating. Save your time and money—this place is a scam. If you actually care about your education, look elsewhere.
Students are equipped with all the necessary resources that is lecturers, class equipment, laboratories and lab equipment. However, the school staff may at times be reluctant to cater for students' needs.
I had the privilege of attending Makerere University, and I must say it was a life-changing experience. As one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in Africa, Makerere University exceeded my expectations in many ways.. The university's rich history and cultural diversity provided a unique and enriching experience. I had the opportunity to interact with students from various backgrounds, broadening my perspectives and understanding of the world.The campus facilities, although not perfect, were generally well-maintained and provided adequate resources for learning and recreation. What I disliked: - The bureaucracy and administrative processes could be slow and frustrating at times. However, this is a common challenge in many institutions, and I learned to be patient and persistent. - Some of the facilities, such as the libraries and laboratories, could benefit from modernization and upgrading. I joined university with a lot of expectations, probably because of the stories told. Not everything turned out as I expected but so far I have had an awesome experience, my interaction with other students has opened my mind greatly.I've learnt to relate well with other people and to accommodate everyone,because we're all different. What stood out for me,is being an independent person,being responsible for my own actions.Campus has a lot of peer pressure and it takes a lot of self control to not go with the wave.
