I studied Mechanical Engineering at Adama Science and Technology University (ASTU) and completed my BSc degree in 2015. Overall, my experience was valuable and shaped my foundational technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. The university offers a strong engineering curriculum, and the lab sessions gave us hands-on exposure to real-world applications. The campus is calm and green, providing a good environment for study. I also appreciated the sense of community among students and the passion of some instructors who truly cared about our learning. At the time of my studies, there were issues with the consistency of course delivery, some instructors lacked proper engagement, and lab equipment was often outdated or limited. Administrative services were sometimes slow and frustrating, especially regarding scheduling and student support. Yes, I would recommend ASTU, especially for students pursuing engineering and science degrees in Ethiopia. The university is growing and improving, and for motivated students, it can be a great launchpad.
Life at Universitas Brawijaya is quite dynamic and diverse. Students have the opportunity to get involved in various extracurricular activities, such as student organizations, clubs, and campus events. These activities provide additional experiences that are useful and enrich campus life. Universitas Brawijaya offers various facilities that support academic and non-academic activities.
Being a student at UII seems to be a matter of prestige because the tuition fees are quite expensive. However, the supporting facilities and teaching materials make the word "price" completely irrelevant. Supporting facilities such as international journals, free accounts to access Microsoft Offices, Spotify, computer lab space and WiFi with fairly fast speeds are provided. Teaching materials are always of international standard with case studies that increase knowledge at every class meeting. It's not just about learning activities, but facilities to support student creativity such as a podcast room, filming equipment, content studio, and editing software are also provided.
