I’m an undergraduate student of Applied Mathematics. After years on the campus, I’ve liked the facilities a lot, and I think they’re the best in the country. I’ve also liked the knowledge coverage that the studies offer on the subject. The help from the profs is mixed. Some are helpful and nice but many deliver an impersonal way of teaching so students are left filling their blanks by themselves. The organizing of exams could be better if students and profs could find the best dates on the calendar without making it every-day-examine sometimes which can be stressful. Finally, some of the first subjects that you have to take are very crowded and students tend to sit by the back without a seat or being left out.
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has been one of the fundamental education poles in my homeland. It has served as a national and global educational and research center for many decades now. Many notable and acknowledged scientists and teachers have graduated from AUTH. As far as the pros are concerned I could highlight the high level of education, nice and equipped labs and libraries, specific and accurate nodules timetable amd schedule and spacy and pleasant university campus. Regarding the cons of this institute, I tend to underline the poor level of communication between the professors and the students (it was a bit difficult to get in touch with the academic staff), and the mediocre level of the electronic platforms and access to open electronic libraries etc.(websites under maintenance, not user friendly student platforms and not very attractive interface)
The department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is considered as one of the most challenging departments in the University, and there is a lot of workload for the students. The professors are generally helpful, but there are many who do not really seem to care about their students and it is very difficult to come in touch with them. However, the academic content of the courses is quite decent. During the COVID-19 quarantine, most of them continued the lectures online after a few weeks, but there were some that refused to provide online lectures, so they demotivated the students. The University is located a little bit outside the center of the city in a very quiet and beautiful environment, but I cannot say the same thing for the dorms and the facilities of the University. Some buildings are very old, there are just few large auditoriums so sometimes there is not enough room for everyone and the labs in my department are not as modern as I like, especially for my field of studies. I should also mention that as a student, you have the opportunity to join several student groups, sports, music, dance and photograph teams and share your passion with other students, and apart from those, as a student in Patras you will definitely have a great time!

I enjoy my field a lot because I study interesting and difficult subjects of the universe. It is very enjoyable to be able to understand things about Astronomy and Nuclear Physics. On the other hand, I think that many of our teachers are not very helpful to the students, so as for them to get a degree. They do not upload their hand notes or the exercises they do in the classroom. As a result, students are obliged to attend the course to be able to understand this particular lesson. This is a problem for students who live not so cole to the university and for others who may work in the mornings.
