Supportive lecturers, real-world relevance, and flexible course structure
As a current Master of Social Work student at the University of Zambia, I appreciate the depth of the curriculum and how well it connects theory with practice. The lecturers are knowledgeable and approachable, especially in areas like mental health, working with families and children, and casework. One aspect I particularly value is the integration of fieldwork and internship components, which provide students with practical, hands-on experience in real-world settings.
However, some challenges include occasional delays in scheduling and feedback, which can affect planning and momentum. Despite this, the academic environment remains supportive, and the diversity of the student body enriches class discussions and group work.
Overall, I would recommend the University of Zambia to students who are passionate about making a difference in society and are seeking a solid, well-grounded education in social work. The program offers a strong foundation and equips students with practical tools to thrive in both local and international contexts.
