The UCV is the first university in Venezuela, as it is the oldest. Its creation dates back to the colonial era, a period when it was a religious institution. Over time, during the independence period, it changed its name and location, becoming the preeminent university in Venezuela, a place we all aspire to attend due to its high academic quality, democratic values, and critical spirit.
It is an autonomous and public university.
The education we receive is wonderful, with excellent facilities such as the Library building and the Aula Magna, an auditorium with excellent acoustics where we received our degrees. The UCV was designed by the great architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva. It features famous works of art such as the sculpture called “Shepherd of the Clouds,” which is a university icon.
All of us at the UCEB are proud of our institution. Despite budgetary difficulties and low teacher pay, it still remains among the best in Latin America.
I was happy during my student years. It’s worth noting that I graduated as a school psychologist in 1997. The best teachers were incredibly talented, both personally and academically. And thanks to the training I received from my professors, I try to emulate the best of them. I’ve applied this as a psychology professor at another university.

I love studying here. There’s so much to learn, and the level is very high. I’m pursuing a master’s degree in women’s studies and have learned about theories and approaches I’d never heard of before. Recommended!

I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Women’s Studies at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, UCV. This program has allowed me to delve deeper into the critical analysis of gender inequalities from an interdisciplinary perspective. Throughout this academic process, I have been able to strengthen my training in topics related to human rights, feminist theory, public policy, and social studies, with an emphasis on the transformation of social realities from an inclusive approach and gender perspective.

This experience has enriched both my professional and personal development, allowing me to articulate theoretical knowledge with practical tools for research, teaching, and social intervention. My commitment to gender equity and justice motivates me to continue contributing to academic, institutional, and community spaces that promote critical reflection and transformative action.

During my five years of study, I enjoyed every aspect of the University. I trained with the UCV Volunteer Firefighters Corps, participated in the UCV Aula Magna Guides Team, the La Trapatiesta Traditional Dance Group, and the Athletics Club, among other activities. The UCV represented a turning point in my life. With the University Firefighters, I experienced social deprivation and human needs firsthand in contexts I thought didn’t exist. In short, I became a more altruistic person. In that same setting, my University trained me for life, for love, and justice. I believe that the UCV brought out the brilliance I brought from my basic education (family and school).
