The University of Miami Business School was founded in 1929 as part of an expansion of the University of Miami, just 4 years after the latter was established. Initially, all the classes were held in a hotel near to a 160 acre area, which would soon become the official campus of the University of Miami. Their undergraduate programmes were expanded in the 1940s in order to to include majors in commerce, accounting, finance, and political science. The school grew to almost 2,000 students. The University of Miami Business School’s first MBA programme began in 1948, and 9 years later, in 1957, it was accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).In 1973, the school established an Executive MBA programme. Some years later, in 1979, the school added a health care specialisation to its Executive MBA offerings with what is now the Executive MBA in Health Sector Management and Policy programme.Show more

What is more, the students are encouraged as well to pursue additional majors and minors in other disciplines in the School of Communication, the School of Education & Human Development, the Frost School of Music, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. Undergraduates at MBS may also construct an individualised major in General Business, allowing them to combine areas of business study in ways that satisfy their particular academic, career, or graduate school objectives. Additionally, all the undergraduate business students are encouraged to study abroad and can apply for financial aid and scholarships on semester-abroad programmes, as well as exchange partner programmes with more than 35 partners. BusinessWeek ranked Miami Business School at 31st in the list of “Best U.S. Undergraduate Business Programs” in 2016 and at 58th in the list of “Best Graduate Business Schools” in 2017.
