A lot of reviews that I have seen leave out a crucial point in the school, and that is the application process. The University of Texas at Austin can be applied through either their application app (ApplyTexas) or the Coalition App. I did my application process through ApplyTexas, not knowing what was to come. The application portal was definitely much more old-fashioned than other schools or even Common App. The portal had text boxes used on websites a decade ago, and applicants had to manually save every time they wanted to move to a different page or close out of the portal. However, even with these un-updated functions of the portal, it was well worth the work. The questions for the essays that had to be written allowed me to open up with my writing and express myself and my great interest in the university. Even though it was a lot of work having to write a lot more essays than the other schools that I had applied for, the University of Texas portal was certainly something I wouldn’t forget. I would definitely recommend a friend to apply to UT Austin if that friend was willing to work hard and do what is necessary at this university.
