Established in 1912, Rice University is now a research university that mainly focuses on undergraduate programmes. It was named after Massachusetts businessman William Marsh Rice, who planned on opening a free-tuition school in Houston. After his sudden death and according to his will, most of his fortune was used for funding the project. The institute’s first building was finished in 1911. Firstly named William Marsh Rice Institute for the Advancement of Letters, Science and Art, the school welcomed 48 male and 29 female students without demanding tuition. However, Rice began charging fees in 1965. Concerning recent history, Rice’s baseball team won their first national championship in 2003.Show more
This university has given me opportunities such as being able to experience the Paris 2024 Olympics, work as a sports medicine intern and be a student manager for the Rice women’s D1 soccer team. The social community is vibrant and the university does its best to facilitate your social experiences here. I have very little to dislike, my only comment being the lack of competitiveness of club sports and teams such as dance, soccer, etc., since we are a very small school.

View moreRice is a great spot. I went to Rice since I needed teachers who really needed to see their understudies succeed, and I can certainly say that is what I found at Rice. Both the weather and the campus are beautiful.
View moreRice is a great spot. I went to Rice since I needed teachers who really needed to see their understudies succeed, and I can certainly say that is what I found at Rice. The classes are extensive, but the tests are fairly priced and centered on the lessons we learned in class. Both the weather and the campus are beautiful.
