My experience with the University of the People has been truly meaningful. What I appreciate the most is the tuition-free model, which has made higher education accessible to me in a way traditional universities never could. It has allowed me to pursue my academic goals without the heavy financial burden that usually comes with a degree.
I also enjoy the flexibility of the online learning format. It fits perfectly with my schedule and responsibilities, and I’ve been able to learn at my own pace. Another thing I value is the global community — interacting with classmates from different countries has broadened my perspective and enriched my learning.
Of course, the university isn’t without challenges. The assessment fees, though much lower than traditional tuition, can still add up. And since everything is online, there isn’t the typical in-person campus experience. The workload can also feel demanding at times, especially when balancing school with daily life. But for me, these challenges are manageable and worth the opportunities the university provides.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the University of the People to others — especially anyone looking for an affordable, flexible, and globally connected way to earn a degree. It has been a valuable part of my academic journey, and I’m grateful for what I’ve been able to achieve through it.

I say this because the school is full of diverse professors, students, and support team members whose ambition and drive aren’t the only thing that they all have in common. Also, intelligence and professionalism are the ties that bind all this humanity up into one popular combination: a school that does more than simply “say” that it can train students to obtain a college undergraduate or graduate degree, a school that “works”!

As a graduate student in the MBA program, I enjoyed learning from experienced professors who helped me gain understanding of concepts in business science as well as their corresponding real-world applications. I connected to real businesses and learned from first-hand experience how organizations apply scientific principles to solve problems. The University offers a plethora of advantages to admitted students. There is no tuition charged, and multiple opportunities to apply for scholarships as well as other forms of financial assistance. The format is entirely online and allows students to participate based on the flexibility of their own personal or professional schedules. Course resources are free and available online, as is the online library and other academic resources such as J-Stor. Professors are easy to contact and reach out to in case you need help. The greatest thing about this school is that even though it is based in Pasadena, California, the students and professors may be from any other country around the world!

Having just embarked on my Business Administration studies at the University of the People for the very first time, provided helpful as well as unhelpful aspects that have influenced my feelings towards the university.
What I Like: Among the other things, one of the most notable characteristics is the online format, which is very flexible. This enables me to study whenever I am free and not constrained by time, which is very vital in managing both my school work and personal obligations. Their course materials are extensive and up to date, covering all the necessary aspects of business building. Furthermore, the teachers are friendly and offer constructive criticism making the whole process of learning enjoyable.
Another thing I like is the inclusion of students from different countries. Engaging in talks with them offers different outlooks which help me deal with global aspects of a business better.
What I Dislike: On the other hand, the fact that it is self-paced can also be a bit too much at times. For self-paced studies, a lot of self-discipline is needed and personally, I have found it difficult to keep up the spirit without the typical structured setting of a classroom. The online platforms are useful, but there are times I rather have more engagement such as in the form of discussions or workshops, rather than listening or reading the whole time.
Final Verdict: Even with these factors in mind, I think the University of the People poses an interesting and worthwhile challenge for anyone, especially those who have a greater degree of flexibility. I would certainly recommend it to those who wish to get a business degree while taking care of other issues. This is a fantastic chance for self-driven individuals who hope to acquire knowledge in a cosmopolitan and encouraging setting
