NYU’s Graduate Acting program has consistently been recognized in the world’s top 5 acting graduate programs for years. With an unprecedented pandemic commencing in my first year in the program, I experienced the type of innovation worthy of that world recognition. The ability to pivot entirely, yet maintain an extremely high level of education was truly profound. I consistently found myself being pushed in ways I wasn’t aware I needed to be. The access to industry professionals for advice, guidance, and leadership means the transition after graduation is much less daunting than going it alone.
View moreMy quest of transformation has been made possible by New York University (NYU). NYU offers an amazing education with renowned instructors, a bustling campus in the middle of NYC, and international chances. My academic and personal development have been shaped by the rich resources and helpful community. For a truly unique experience, I heartily recommend attending NYU.
View moreFrom online classes to commuting to study abroad, NYU has been a great and supportive school to be in! Whatever challenges come my way, I am hopeful that somehow I will find support in my school. Also, I have seen so much progress, not only in my academic world, but also as a person. As a film specialist I truly feel they provide great resources and connections to the professional world. Being in New York also offers countless opportunities for filmmakers. One thing is that they focus more on the artistic side of cinema, so if you are interested in more technical or commercial film, I would not recommend this program. But as someone interested in the artistic side of cinema, this school has given me great tools so far!
View moreI never feel like I’m not learning here. The amount of opportunities is almost overwhelming, and it’s all at your fingertips if you so choose to take advantage of it. I love it as someone who loves learning, the only thing is that I wish the campus would fix their campus transportation or give us metrocards or something. It’s an amazing place!
View moreThe thing to understand about NYU, and about so many other “big names” of post-secondary education in America, is that they are not “universities” per se, they are corporations, and they are run as such.
Consequently, the main focus of a corporation such as NYU will be that of business. Secondary to business is reputation. And, finally, at the bottom of the list, is education.
The professors employed by NYU are, in the majority of the cases, exceptional to say the least. Their teachings can be life-changing. NYU’s level of education is, in fact, its best “asset” to this day.
The remaining aspects of NYU, such as the insufferable bureaucracy, the administration which prioritizes business and reputation over education, and the cost of tuition, which DOES NOT even take into consideration the expenses that go into living arrangements, food, textbooks and other class materials, insurance, the unfairness with which scholarships are awarded and HOW LITTLE they are awarded, etc., leave much to be desired.
