I started out as an older adult going back to school as I had a lot of medical issues when I came out of high school. My first advisor was quite unhelpful and didn’t even know we had a program available that I was looking for, which led me to get into a program that I didn’t need. Many professors never respond back to emails, most of them seem overly stressed and bogged down by the amount of work they have. I’m not sad that I picked SIUE, but I wish I would have gotten a different advisor at first as I think I wasted at least a semester going in the wrong direction.
