Being in a class when the professor frequently uses the book he or she created and teaches from his or her own research and life’s work is exciting. Brown is a reputable academic institution for graduate study. If you desire a more diverse experience, you will need to become acclimated to the culture and search for support groups within your department. My experience at Brown was fantastic! It was entertaining, exciting, and intellectually difficult all at once. As a young man of color, I felt at home and content there and made lifelong friends.
