Amherst College is an amazing liberal arts college that will give you a very well-rounded education. Plenty of finance internships are available to AC students, but mostly for sophomores and juniors. The student life is pretty calm; not what you see in American movies about colleges, but there are always parties on weekends. For bigger parties, there’s always UMass nearby. Amherst offers very generous financial aid and has a diverse student body. Most professors are fantastic and are very passionate about teaching. The city of Amherst can become boring sometimes, but this makes it very safe which is more important for me.
View moreI attended Amherst College for four years from 2015-2019, and cannot say enough good things about it. The academics are absolutely phenomenal: rigorous, BUT also extremely rewarding (and manageable). The professors are excellent, and provide a lot of one-on-one support because of the small class sizes. Amherst is a liberal arts college with no fixed course requirements (except for the courses required by whichever major you choose – but even those are flexible) which means that you can study whatever you wish, from History to Math to German. Amherst also provides extremely generous financial aid (one of the best in the country for international students), and almost all of it is grant aid, which means no student loans or debt. Amherst also provides a lot of extra-curricular opportunities, and has a whole host of clubs and activities for students to take part in, such as the Outdoors Club (organizes activities such as skiing and zip-lining), Mock Trial, lots of orgs based on student ethnicities (e.g. the South Asian Students Association), different kinds of acapella groups, etc. Resources such as the Career Center, the Multicultural Resource Center, the Center for Community Engagement, etc, are also always there to help students. The dorms are way better (spacious, cleaner etc) compared to most other colleges. Plus the campus is beautiful and the town is lovely and quaint, with natural beauty galore. There is also easy access to the other colleges in the 5-College Consortium (UMass Amherst, Mt Holyoke, Smith, Hampshire) where you can also take classes and attend events. In short, I cannot say enough good things about Amherst College!!!!!!!!
