I had a great time at York, meeting plenty of new people and getting involved with various academic and non-academic activities. York is a great city, with plenty to do for young people; even if it’s too small then you have Leeds on your doorstep, Newcastle for nightlight and Manchester and London 70 and 110 minutes away by train respectively. My only criticism would be the lack of tailored guidance from the careers department. Being in the field of economics, it is important to apply for roles early; even starting applications for insight programmes in your first year. I was very lucky that I got involved with student-led activities, to help me with this. I would rate the student-led support as amongst the best nationally, but this is as a result of the gaps in the university careers department itself.
