Student Experience

During my first year at Warwick University, I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions, but this was to be expected. I was moving out of the bubble from my quiet home town to a completely new area, studying a new subject with new people. To say I felt slightly overwhelmed would be an understatement- but I was not alone.

For the first year of my studies, I lived on campus in Rootes accommodation. I made so many friends during this time; sharing a flat, joining societies and just by attending class. I enjoyed living on such a well-connected campus, it had everything you could ever need. There’s a grocery shop, cafes, restaurants, bars and even a university club.

I study Politics, Philosophy and Law which I thoroughly enjoy. The different modules overlap nicely together and it is so broad in scope that the possibilities really are endless. In second year I chose an external module from The Warwick Business School; Management in Practice. It was a great opportunity to try something new and it has helped me decide what I want to specialise in for my final year. The teaching at Warwick is an excellent standard and I felt fully supported by the department whenever I had any difficulties. I had regular meetings with my personal tutor which acted as a great support mechanism especially when I first started.

There are so many opportunities available to students at Warwick from securing internships to studying abroad and I feel so lucky to be part of this network. I am currently finishing my study abroad year in Spain which has been such a great experience and I am so grateful to have had this opportunity.

It is important to note that university is not without its challenges. Warwick is a prestigious university and this is reflected by the high calibre of students studying there. The workload can be intense and the content can be difficult but university is not meant to be easy. The Wellbeing team at Warwick are understanding of this and go above and beyond to support students through difficult times. Yes, university may feel like a rollercoaster but Warwick has provided me with some of the best memories I could have asked for, as well as endless opportunities before I start my career. If you are looking to attend a prestigious university offering great career prospects then I highly recommend applying to Warwick.
