The University of Stirling is a fantastic place to be a student, offering a unique balance of natural beauty and a strong sense of community. Set on a stunning campus, you are constantly surrounded by nature, with the Scottish Highlands right on your doorstep. At the same time, its location in Scotland’s central belt makes it incredibly convenient to travel to nearby cities like Stirling, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, giving you the best of both worlds.
Academically, Stirling has been very rewarding. I studied a joint degree in Business and Marketing, which gave me the flexibility to explore both subjects in depth while keeping my future career options open. In my first and second years, I had the opportunity to take a range of additional modules, including French, politics, environmental science, and philosophy. This variety allowed me to develop a broader perspective and explore different interests alongside my main degree. The quality of teaching has been excellent, and it’s a big part of why I’ve chosen to stay on and pursue a master’s degree in Digital Marketing and Brand Management.
One of the standout aspects of my time at Stirling has been the sports culture. Before coming to university, I wasn’t heavily involved in team sports, but that quickly changed. Through the university, I discovered my passion for snowsports, which not only introduced me to a new hobby but also gave me a real sense of belonging. Being part of that community has been one of the most rewarding parts of my university experience.
Living in Stirling itself is another huge positive. It’s a beautiful, safe city with a welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal place to spend your student years. The university and the city are both relatively small, which creates a close-knit environment. After four years, I’ve reached the point where I can go almost anywhere and recognise a friendly face, which really speaks to the strong sense of community here.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend the University of Stirling. It offers a supportive, friendly environment, excellent teaching, and a truly memorable student experience.
