at University of St Andrews

An excellent quality University in Scotland with truly phenomenal courses. The Middle Eastern History, Arabic/Persian, Medieval History, Psychology, and International Relations programs are all consistently rated among the best in the UK, and have truly excellent professors. The first two years are less engaging as the final two, as you may have large classes with hundreds of students in lectures if you are part of the more popular modules, and subject matter can be a bit boring (especially in International Relations second year), although this improves in Honours modules. The town is quite small, and dominated by the University. Except for the student unions and local pubs, the night life is not excellent, although St. Andrews makes up for this by being a quaint and picturesque town during the day, with everything in walking distance. St. Andrews has a high number of International students, especially from the United States. The student body is generally academically focused, and tend to be from wealthier backgrounds (currently we have the second lowest number of state school students in the country, and the administration has done little to increase inclusivity). Rent can also be quite expensive in town.
