The University of Sheffield is a prestigious institution which delivers invaluable education to students. Lecturers are quite friendly and generally go the extra mile to ensure students are happy with the modules. Courses are taught using varied means which include traditional lectures with visuals (which are always recorded!), tutorials, guest lectures from professionals in the industry, site visits, and hands-on projects. The university has lots of international students from all over the world and is literally bursting with culture. It is also very student-focused and thus provides various services such as the Student Advice Centre, The Nightline etc. to ensure students are comfortable, safe and their mental health is top-notch. There are also services to help students secure placements, internships, and part-time jobs while studying and upon graduation. Lastly and most importantly, the social life is fantastic! Its Student Union encompasses loads of societies, clubs, bars, and nightclubs, with events running throughout the academic year so you can’t possibly be bored! They even have ‘give-it-a-go sessions’ where students can try exciting activities like scuba diving! The city is student-friendly, with even friendlier locals and beautiful parks; the peak district is a must see! On the downside there are hills EVERYWHERE but hey! You can save up on gym memberships and go for a run up the hill 😉
