Enjoyable Experience

I liked that the University isn’t too far away from the town centre, it took me about half an hour to get to the town centre. I liked that there is a bus stop on campus and the bus takes like 10-15 mins to get into town and comes really regularly and there are a couple of other bus stops nearby as well.

I liked that the University allows you to stay in accommodation every year. Even though it’s not guaranteed that you can get it I’ve managed to each year. I think it is really convenient.

I liked the extra things that the University offers. I did thrive mentor scheme in my second year. My mentor answered any questions I had about his industry. I also did a Summer internship with Reading Internship Scheme for a charity doing marketing and fundraising. This helped me to know what jobs I’d like to do after graduating.

I loved the campus, I enjoyed walking around the lake with friends to de-stress and going to Harris gardens. I liked the facilities like bagelmans. The coop was really convenient. I liked the University bar Mojos, it was nice to go to quiz nights there.

I liked the events put on by societies. I’ve been to a few film nights which have been fun and some society meals which I enjoyed.

I liked Campus Jobs. It was really handy for looking for part time work as a student. I worked multiple part time jobs as a student with them, which I think is great work experience to have.

In terms of being an Ethics, Value and Philosophy student specifically I liked that there are no exams, the course was marked on coursework which was mainly essays. A small part of the marks came from presentations. I liked giving presentations. I preferred being marked on coursework rather than exams.

I liked that we usually got a list of essay questions to chose from so we were not forced to answer a question we didn’t want to do. I liked that the questions were made available a few weeks in advance so I had a long time to work on them.

I liked that we could sometimes get feedback from the lecturers on essay plans. I likes that some lectures were recorded and uploaded online afterwards I found it handy to re-watch them. I liked that we covered such a variety of topics on the course such as political philosophy, philosophy of language, ethics, global philosophy and more. I liked that we got some choice on what modules to study.

Some of my favourite modules were: Fairness, Global Justice, Meaning and The Mind and Speech Attacks.
